Exmoor - The Country Magazine

Autumn 2011 Location, location, location! Our area seems to be lapping up the limelight of late, from our smallest acorns to our limitless dark and starry skies; the news has been full of the beauties and virtues of the West Country, and Exmoor in particular.   Here at the magazine our mission is to do everything we can to contribute to the promotion of the area. To this end, in the winter issue, out now in the shops, we have been exploring the commons and bridges of Exmoor, learning about ploughing against a magnificent Quantocks backdrop, catching up with the men of the Minehead lifeboat and Barnstaple’s trading families and seeing how one local artist has been inspired by the West Somerset Steam Railway.  With the help of 16 extra free pages (what a bargain!), our diary section features festive dates and shopping venues submitted from across the area to help you plan your local shopping and social calendar this season.

As ever, we would love to hear from you – this issue we have a number of competitions, including another fabulous Fatyak Kayak to be won when you buy the mag and our winter Dark Skies Photo Competition to celebrate Exmoor’s recent stardom in being designated as a dark sky reserve.

Happy reading and good luck to all entrants!

Naomi, Sue, Elaine and Heather
